The award will be for national projects demonstrating environmental Sustainability and efficiency
The ABC newspaper and Sando Group have reached an agreement to create a new award recognising environmentally responsible infrastructure projects. The I Annual Sustainable construction Award is a national contest with a grand prize of 3,000 Euros.
Environmental sustainability is a universal concept which encompasses environmental, social and economic factors which, in the case of construction, are combined in efficient and environmentally responsible urban development.
Both ABC and Sando, committed to preserving the natural environment and promoting sustainable construction practices, have joined to create this award. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2011. The award winner will be announced during the final quarter of the year and will be final.
The award includes recent architectural or civil construction projects. In any case, projects will be judged regardless of whether their execution is planned or has been initiated. Projects which have been completed prior to the end of 2011 or have won previous awards will not be admitted.
The projects will be evaluated according to their contribution to the development of environmentally sustainable and innovative construction practices, including the use of new materials, recycling efficiency, innovative and economical design, the use of renewable energies, environmental impact, construction processes, among others.
Full details are available on-line from ABC, www.abc.com and Sando, www.sando.com. All projects must be submitted by e-mail to: www.premioconstruccionsostenible@abc.es
