Althenia has finished landscaping the green corridor of Novo Mesoiro in A Coruña. A project it has carried out for the City Council as part of the maintenance service for the green areas of La Coruña that it provides in the city.
The mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rey, said during a visit to the new park that they were extremely happy with the infrastructure: “With this intervention, we have created a green and leisure area for the residents, and we are revaluing the public space, increasing the area for vegetation, walking and playing”.
This project was conceived to recover the space between Ribeira Sacra and Fragas do Eume streets with a green corridor. The result is an area of 12,000 square metres of green areas and playgrounds.
One of the main points of the green corridor project in which Althenia has participated is its accessible pergola. It is a reinforced concrete structure designed by the architectural firm Naos, which simulates the leaf of a tree. Inclined tubular metal pillars support it, and its roof is covered with pinewood.
The pergola’s interior is fully accessible, allowing access for people with reduced mobility and use of the furniture. The main table, with a one-metre-high overhang, is wheelchair accessible.
