The company specialised in environmental services of the Sando business group, Althenia, has obtained the R&D&i Management Certificate as recognition and evidence of the conformity of its management system with the UNE 166002:2014 standard.
This new certification is added to the one already achieved by Sando Construcciones for the Work System to encourage generating new ideas, evaluating them and designing mechanisms, as well as incorporating innovation into the company´s day-to-day operation.
The scope of the R&D&i Management Certificate according to UNE 166002:2014, obtained by Althenia, is established in the research, development and innovation in geomatics and topography, ICTs, materials and wastewater technology, for the improvement of techniques, systems and construction processes in the field of civil works and the conservation and maintenance services of Roads, vegetation, gardens, urban heritage and street fixtures.
Althenia is currently completing the UAV-Grass research project, oriented towards the care and protection of the environment and advocating conservation of parks and gardens using drones. The project aims to incorporate new technologies in the management of green areas that allow a more efficient, safe, exhaustive conservation and that entails savings in line with the Circular Economy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The new Certification of the R&D&i Management System implies that the R&D&i activities have been systematised and integrated into the general management of the company. It also notes that it has been possible to plan, organise and control the R&D&i units, as well as the project portfolio, establish the interaction of R&D&i with other departments and demonstrate the transparency of these activities. This certification provides added trust in the R&D activity and demonstrates its compatibility with other management systems.
Obtaining the R&D&i Management Certificate, according to UNE 166002:2014, further consolidates the commitment of the Sando business group to research within the parameters of quality, seriousness and prudence that historically have characterised the company.
