Althenia Sando has finished the construction work on the coastal path section on Cristo Beach. This work by Estepona Town Hall will allow the last missing section to be connected, so that the more than 17 kilometres from Costa Natura to El Saladillo can be travelled uninterruptedly.
The new path built by Althenia Sando, which connects to the west with the Doncella Beach pedestrian promenade and to the east with the beach of El Cristo, is 354 metres long and 3 metres wide. Its layout has been adapted to the existing topography to reduce earthworks to a minimum.
The paving works have completed a 12.3 metre-long and 3-metre-wide wooden footbridge next to Doncella Beach over the riverbed of the existing river torrent in this area. Access from the path to the beach has also been created with stairs and a newly created ramp, replacing the existing stairs.
The project also includes street furniture, taps, litter bins and bollards, promoting the coastal corridor in the western part of the city. This initiative is funded by the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU.
Althenia Sando, a company specialising in providing sustainable services, is doing this project as part of its environmental work. With this action, Althenia contributes to sustainable urban development by favouring the preservation of the space and contributes enormous value and attractiveness to the municipality by allowing the connection with the rest of the pedestrian paths.
In addition to others built by the company in Estepona, this new section includes the 870-metre-long section linking the Laguna Village shopping centre with Dominion Beach and the section that crosses the Taraje stream with a 20-metre-long wooden bridge.
