In the last ten years, Sando has constructed the principal infrastructure of the Airport of Malaga

15/03/2010

Sando Construcciones is a Spanish company with its origins in Malaga, which has executed a number of the projects to convert the Airport of Malaga into one of the largest and most modern airports in Europe. In recent years, Sando has participated in ten construction projects, including the newly inaugurated terminal, the T3.
In this way, Sando continues to enjoy the confidence of public administrations, providing the highest quality and technical expertise for the execution any type of infrastructure. Over 35 years of continuing effort Sando has become one of the leading Spanish multinationals in the construction sector.

The new Terminal, constructed by Sando in UTE, has a total area of 250,000 square metres and has 20 departure gates with capacity for 9,000 passengers an hour and over 20 million a year, doubling the capacity of the Malaga airport.

Sando is currently constructing the second runway, something only a few airports in Spain have, to be completed in March 2011. The new runway will have a length of 2,950 metres and a total paved surface of 546,993 square metres.

In addition to the T• and the second runway, Sando is executing other projects to contribute to the modernisation of the City of Malaga such as the train station, the south power station, the tunnel for handling vehicles and a number of lesser projects.

These actions are in addition to those already executed in recent years by Sando Construcciones. These are keys projects for the development of the Airport of Malaga including the expansion of the platform of the East Zone in 2009, the two new rapid exit lanes in 2007, the expansion of the holding area in 2006 and the drainage project during the first phase of the Airport in 2005.

Before undertaking the projects within the Plan Malaga, Sando had executed other projects in other airports such as the construction of the second runway in Barajas airport in Madrid.

The participation of Sando Construcciones in the Airport of Malaga project is further evidence of the company’s capacity to execute complex and sophisticated projects alone, or in conjunction with other partners.
