The new section of the Guadalhorce Green Corridor built by Sando in Pizarra has been inaugurated. A project of the Malaga Country Council seeks to contribute to the environmental recovery of the Guadalhorce River and its surroundings and create spaces for the population to enjoy and connect with nature.
The event consisted of the first walk along the path, led by the mayor, Félix Lozano, and the Malaga County Council president, Francisco Salado. The route started from the Red Cross centre to the Francisco Portales Chávez Square.
On the implementation of the Schist Trail
The works included creating a 1.5-kilometre path next to the A-343 road, linking the town of Pizarra with the Vega Hipólito neighbourhood. With a width of 1.80 metres, the corridor crosses an area above the Guadalhorce valley.
As part of this project, Sando has also built three viewpoints, a 14-metre footbridge over the Fuensanta spring stream, and a parking area.
As a company specialising in environmental solutions, Sando Construcción has used sustainable materials to execute the works, such as earthen paving and wooden slats. Also, to protect and enhance the biodiversity of this enclave, work has been carried out to plant native species to reinforce the local flora.
About Corredor Verde del Guadalhorce
The work on the Pizarra footpath is part of the Corredor Verde del Guadalhorce project of the Malaga County Council. An ambitious project that aims to create a route of more than 50 km through 8 municipalities in the lower Guadalhorce basin: Ardales, Álora, Pizarra, Coín, Alhaurín el Grande, Cártama, Alhaurín de la Torre and Málaga.
This initiative allows the environmental and landscape restoration of the river and its tributaries while creating a large green area that connects these municipalities, promotes tourism, and provides meeting areas for their inhabitants.
