Sando Agua and Conacon Sando are responsible for maintaining and conserving dams in the province of Almeria for the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development within the Hydrographic Demarcation of the Andalusian Mediterranean basins.
Specifically in the Benínar Dam, maintenance and conservation work will be carried out on the valves, such as installing valves and suction cups in sections such as the spillway control chamber or at the outlet. Maintenance and control work will also be carried out on the pumps and repairs, and maintenance work on the three sluice gates. The maintenance of the power generators and electrical installations, such as the transformer of the dam in the village and part of the power line to the village, will also be carried out.
At Castañar Dam, maintenance and control work will be done on existing valves and pumps in wells. Repair work on the weir gate is also being carried out.
At the Cuevas de Almanzora Dam, maintenance and conservation work will be carried out on the valves and fittings housed in the facilities, applying specific treatment depending on whether they are bottom and intermediate spillways or intake towers.
Vital action for efficient water management
These regulations, transport, and distribution infrastructures are fundamental elements for the province, as they supply industries and urban populations daily. They also play a vital role in irrigated areas, such as: the intensive agricultural areas of more than 24,000 hectares in the Campo de Dalías or the irrigated areas of the Comarca del Bajo Almanzora, which has a surface area of 17,000 hectares.
Through the maintenance, conservation, and repair of these infrastructures, Sando Agua ensures the efficient water distribution and avoids possible negative impacts on crops, industry, or lack of water supply to local populations.
