he Spanish textile multinational Mayoral has entrusted Sando with constructing its new logistics facilities in Malaga, specifically in the Intelhorce industrial estate, where work has already begun. It is a unique project designed by the prestigious architect Rafael Urquiza to store and process orders.
The new logistics hall, which is 20 metres high, is built on a rectangular floor plan measuring 150 by 125 metres. The outline of the facade stands out for its design, with a large arch towards the interior on the south, east and west sides and two arches on the north facade, coinciding with the loading bay area.
The facades, designed with a double skin of cladding, adapt to the curves of the building. They combine materials such as polycarbonate inside with perforated sheet metal panels in the visible areas. The architect devised a secondary structure of lattice pillars to support the two facade skins.
The building, whose infrastructure is already being executed by Sando, has three main modules, two for vertical communication, an access module and a third for the office and shared use area.
Award-winning logistics facilities
These logistics facilities are next to the new order centre, a large industrial complex refurbished by Sando, which has received numerous awards. These include a special mention in the 2020 Awards of the Malaga College of Architects and a nomination for the 2019 Mies van der Rohe Awards.
Sando is grateful for the trust Mayoral has placed in the capacity, quality and guarantee of the company’s team to build another sustainable and innovative project with a unique design, such as its new logistics facilities.
