The new Social Insertion Centre (SIC) of Navalcarnero, Madrid, constructed by Sando the previous year, was inaugurated today by the General Secretary of Correctional Institutions Mercedes Gallizo.
The Social Insertion Centre is a correctional institution aimed at assisting in the social reinsertion of paroled inmates. The facility is located in Navalcarnero, in the Community of Madrid near the Madrid IV penitentiary.
The project, with a budget of 10,070,940.79€, has a total area of 8,600m2, distributed in a main administrative building, a social services building, four one-storey dormitories, a facilities building, technical installations, two access Roads and a parking area.
The complex has a total of 200 rooms, four of which are habilitated for mobility-impaired people, 25 offices, six classrooms, library, gymnasium, games room, cafeteria-canteen, commissary, laundry and other facilities.
The construction of the facility required the use of 9,000 cubic meters of concrete, 300,000kg of steel and 14,500m2 of wrought iron.
