Sando Construcción, which specialises in the construction of healthcare infrastructures, has begun the first remodelling works at the Virgen de la Victoria Hospital in Málaga. With a budget of 4 million euros, the work consists of refurbishing and extending the Oncology-Haematology Day Hospital, which will double the medical care capacity for oncology patients.
The work, already begun in areas not occupied by healthcare activity, is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025. It will provide the hospital with a larger space, adapted to the number of patients it serves. The creation of the new space will unify the old IBIMA laboratory and the medical dormitories in the same area, expanding the areas from 625 m² to 1,351 m².
The project for the new day hospital and oncology-haematology consultation room arose from the need to have a larger space adapted to the needs of the patients treated in the oncology unit, promoting comfort during their stay and facilitating the work carried out by professionals in their daily tasks.
It is planned to triple the number of chairs and beds to assist patients needing isolation. The number of oncology consultations will also be increased from nine to sixteen, and the space dedicated to patient and family waiting will be tripled to 311 m².
