Sando Construcción is carrying out for ADIF AV the Railway work for the platform of the Burgos-Vitoria High-Speed Line connection with the railway integration in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz for more than 27.5 million euros.
These works are being carried out on a 3.6-kilometre stretch that runs through the municipalities of Iruña de Oka to Vitoria-Gasteiz in the province of Alava. The starting point is east of the County of Villodas, in the Iruña de Oka municipality, on the left bank of the Zadorra River.
The works allow the construction of a new platform that connects at the beginning with the last section of the Burgos-Vitoria corridor and, at the end of its route, with the integration section in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz of the Madrid – Valladolid – Burgos – Vitoria – Bilbao/San Sebastián-French border high-speed railway line.
This new platform will have two unique structures: the first, to resolve the crossing between the Madrid-Hendaye conventional road and the high-speed line, is a 205 m long structure formed by a 30 m long viaduct at the entrance to a 115 m long pergola that forms the crossing at different levels, and a second 60 m long viaduct at the exit, and the second, to resolve the intersection with the A-4302 road as an overpass, is an 84 m long viaduct with three spans supported on two reinforced concrete piers and two abutments.
Specialisation in sustainable rail infrastructure
Sando Construcción integrates Sustainability measures in its projects through its specialised railway infrastructures, designing innovative and sustainable solutions for its clients.
n the execution of this project, an Environmental Monitoring Plan and a Waste Management Plan will be carried out, which will estimate the production of construction and demolition waste, as well as the measures to guarantee its correct management. In this way, the project also contemplates restoration treatments for the environmental integration of the slopes, of the adapted transversal drainage works, such as wildlife crossings, and of the temporary occupation areas, such as auxiliary installations, stockpile areas, loans and landfills.
With this project, Sando Construcción continues to increase its experience and specialisation in railway works in line with its contribution to SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by facilitating the development of safe and accessible transport and promoting new electric mobility.
