The company will execute the construction of an underground bypass in Casablanca for 7.5 million Euros
Sando has been adjudicated the project for the “Abderrahium Bouaabid” underground bypass, in a public tender by the City of Casablanca, the financial capital of Morocco. This is the second international contract awarded to Sando in the last quarter after the adjudication of a motorway project in Colombia.
The project, which represents the start of the company’s expansion into Africa, will provide an underground bypass of two Railway lines, two tram lines and an eight lane motorway in the La Marina district of Casablanca.
This infrastructure project has a total budget of 7.5 million Euros, to be completed in 24 months. The underground bypass provides an alternative to reducing the number of traffic lanes in the area, permitting access to different areas of the city such as Oasis boulevard, the rail line to Oasis station, Mecque boulevard in the Bachkou district on the tram line. Additionally, the construction of a new interchange on the Rabat – Marrakech motorway at Taddert will make this boulevard an important access route to the city.
The project is part of the “Infrastructure Improvement Program of the City of Casablanca – CASA 2010” by the Morocco Ministry of the Interior. The project began with the construction of a tram line in the city which will be operational in 2012.
