The property company donates 0.7% of its sales during the Madrid and Malaga real estate exhibitions to the UN refugee Agency’s initiative
The event was sponsored by Jesus Vazquez, the UNHCR’s Special Collaborator
The Sando Fundación has donated two cheques to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with 0.7% of Sando Inmobiliaria’s sales made during the Madrid and Malaga property shows for the aid project Radio Dadaab-Kenya, promoted by the popular Telecinco presenter and UNHCR Special Collaborator, Jesus Vazquez.
The first of the cheques delivered to UNHCR during the event was for the amount of €57,562.25, which corresponds to 0.7% of Sando Inmobiliaria’s sales during the Madrid Real Estate Exhibition. The other cheque was symbolic, since once the Mediterranean Real Estate Exhibition is finished, the same operation will be carried out. The Sando Fundación is responsible for the management of this charitable action.
The event, held at midday today at the Sando Inmobiliaria stand at the Mediterranean Real Estate Exhibition (SIMed), was attended by Jesus Vazquez and Susana Peña, Head of Awareness and Education of the Spanish UNHCR committee. Esther Sanchez Manzano, general manager of the Sando Fundación, and Jose Luis Miro Morales, general manager of Sando Inmobiliaria, attended on behalf of Grupo Sando
Sando is an international group of companies that holds one of the top ten positions in the construction industry in Spain and which has a strong commitment to society.
The economic contribution will go to the Radio Dadaab-Kenya project, of which Jesus Vazquez is the figurehead. The project aims to install a radio station serving the UNHCR refugee camps in Dadaab, Kenya, a region in the north-east of the country near the border with Somalia. Thanks to this station, it will be possible to broadcast programmes on education, health and organisation and refugees will be able to communicate with the outside world.
Jesus Vazquez, as the UNHCR’s Special Collaborator, is very aware of the problem of refugees and participates actively in different campaigns to raise awareness and funds for the nearly 33 million people all over the world who have been uprooted and fall under the UNHCR’s mandate.
The Sando Fundación arose in 2006 because of the need to make a commitment to society. The Foundation’s activities are worldwide, and so they are not limited to any particular geographical zone. Currently the Foundation is the principle means by which Grupo Sando directs its Corporate Social Responsibility actions.
Until Sunday, Sando Inmobiliaria, the official sponsor of the Mediterranean Real Estate Exhibition, will give the first year of their mortgage free to customers who acquire or reserve a home at SIMed.
The Property division of Grupo Sando has expanded this year with the acquisition of the Madrid estate agent Agofer. This has been a key operation for the Property Area, putting it among the country’s most important estate agents. Sando owns a total portfolio of over 8 million square metres of land for the development of more than 25,000 homes.
