The contract for the new section of motorway is budgeted at over one hundred million Euros
The Sando Group, through its Polish subsidiary Sando Budownictwo Polska, has been awarded a new civil engineering project. The company is the sole contractor for the construction of the A1 Motorway, with a total budget of 107 million Euros.
The A1 Motorway runs between the towns of Torun and Strykow, to the northwest of Warsaw and is administered by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The section adjudicated to Sando Budownictwo Polska has a total length of 9 kilometres, located between the towns of Kotliska and Piatek. The project includes the construction of a 1.6 km viaduct over marshlands.
The contract was signed in mid-July in the city of Lodz, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Poland, Cezary Grabarczyk.
The contract is the fourth civil engineering project awarded to Sando Budownictwo Polska in the last two years, and the first to be executed without a local partner. The company is currently constructing a residential housing promotion for Sando Inmobiliaria Polska in Warsaw.
The first project adjudicated to Sando last year was the North Bridge over the Vistula River, the largest river in Poland. This project required significant innovations, using techniques used in maritime construction given the impossibility of diverting the river, and at temperatures of -30ºC.
The second project is for the construction of a section of the national motorway N627 in the municipality of Małkinia Górna, including the construction of a new bridge over the Bug River. The remaining contract is for the design and construction of a 32 km section of the S7 Motorway between Olsztynek and Nidzica, some 200 km from Warsaw.
These three projects executed by Sando have a total budget of 336.4 million Euros, which, combined with this latest contract, totals some 443.4 million Euros.
