The contract is for seven years and covers half of the city
The Sando Group of companies, through its subsidiary Althenia, which specializes in urban and environmental services, has since May taken over the road cleaning and rubbish collection services in zone B, covering half the city of Tangiers. The contract is for a period of seven years with a total budget of 45.35 million euros.
This will be the second undertaking by Sando in Morocco. The first contract was completed in December and involved construction of the “Abderrahim Bouaabid” under pass for Casablanca City Council.
Althenia took part in a local bid for the cleaning services which had been set up especially for this purpose and were awarded the contract for work to be carried out in the Eastern area of Tangiers which has a population of some 609,000 people. The contract involves the task of collecting rubbish, manual and mechanized cleaning, hosing down the Roads, cleaning the beaches and collecting rubble.
Althenia Company has invested a large amount of money in order to renew existing materials and update their equipment – both specialized machinery as well as vehicles. The company has incorporated technology into their services and an I.T. management system which is currently used in Spain. Over 500 operators form part of the team needed to provide these services.
Thanks to this contract adjudication, the Sando group of companies has been able to open new lines of business in Morocco and is consolidating its presence after three years of business in the country.
