A large number of specialists, authorities, public administration representatives and trade unions have attended the conferences
The Sando Fundación held this morning a conference on Work Risk Prevention, which dealt with the latest affairs in the field.
The Sando Fundación, which was created a few months ago, has organised once again the Conference on Work Risk Prevention, as well as the traditional Security and Health Awards Ceremony. These awards have been granted for six years now, in order to acknowledge, stimulate and promote amongst professionals a culture of maximum respect to work risks.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre Prados, who has congratulated the Sando Group for its work in the promotion of a culture of work risk prevention, thus encouraging other businesses to follow its steps. The mayor hopes that the measures taken will reduce the accident rates in Málaga below the national Spanish and regional rates in Andalucía.
Also in attendance was the General Manager of Security and Health of the Board of Andalucía, Esther Azorit Jiménez, who congratulated Sando for its constant effort to reduce the number of work accidents. She mentioned the new measures that the Board of Andalucía is introducing in the field of prevention. The vice-president and managing director of the Sando Group, Luis Sánchez Manzano, who opened the ceremony, said that the group should not just attain a 50% index, but rather a number of zero accidents.
After the presentation, the first talk was given by José Yanes Coloma, the head of the Permanent Secretariat of the National Security and Health Commission, who described the Security and Health action plan to be implemented in Spain between 2007 and 2012. Afterwards, Federico Artola Küstner, the head of the Sando Group Joint Prevention Service, explained the approach required to deal with new situations in terms of risk.
Further on, the round table entitled ´Regulations of the Subcontracting Law in the Construction Field´ (Royal Decree 1109/2007, of 24 August) included Pedro Fernández Alén, manager of the CNC Legal Department; Manuel Fernández López, secretary general of the UGT Metal, Construction and related activities Association, and Ángel Gómez Angulo, who is a member of the National Executive Commission of FECOMA-CCOO. Also, Mercedes Muñoz Salas, head of the Work and Social Security Inspection Department in Málaga, acted as the moderator.
Once the conference had ended, the Security and Health Awards Ceremony was held. The awards are granted as an acknowledgement of the work carried out in the field of work risks in the Sando Group. One specific worker from each company in the group is chosen, as well as two external collaborating companies.
The awards were given by the Head of the Employment Department of the Board of Andalucía in Málaga, Juan Carlos Lomeña Villalobos, who represented the Employment Managing Director, Antonio Fernández, together with Federico Muela Velasco, the president of FADECO, Manuela Mojarro Morales, manager of the Centre for Work Risk Prevention of the Board of Andalucía, and José Luis Sánchez Domínguez, the president of the Sando Group.
The Sando Fundación was created in 2006 based on the need for commitment with society. The Foundation has a global approach, thus not focusing on a specific geographical area. Today it is the main tool used by the Sando Group to channel all its actions in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, paying special attention to work risk prevention.
The Sando Group, which is closely connected to environment, quality and security, is one of the top ten entities in the field of construction in Spain and is deeply committed with society.
