The Governing Council of the Andalusian Regional Government, chaired by Juanma Moreno, has awarded José Luis Sánchez Domínguez, Honorary President and founder of Sando, the Andalusian Medal of Economy and Enterprise.
The award was collected at the official Andalusia Day ceremony, which took place at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, along with other personalities such as María Pérez García and Sarah Almagro (Andalusia Medals for Sport); the Andalusian Platform for Volunteers Juan y Medio (Andalusia Medals for Solidarity and Concord) and the National Police Force and the Andalusia Red Cross (Andalusia Medals for Human Values), among others.
This medal recognizes the professional career of Sando’s founder and is awarded in the year that marks the 50th anniversary of its creation.
The Sando project
José Luis Sánchez Domínguez (Malaga, 1938) embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in 1974 with the founding of Construcciones Sánchez Domínguez, the first company of the Sando Group. Over the course of half a century, this company has evolved into one of Spain’s most important construction companies, setting the standard for executing sustainable infrastructures and specialised conservation and environmental services. With a dedicated team of over 2,300 people and an annual turnover of approximately 300 million euros, Sando is a testament to the power of vision and perseverance.
Upon receiving this prestigious recognition, José Luis Sánchez Domínguez expressed his gratitude to the Andalusian Government, saying, “If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, you aspire to build a company of significant impact. As I reflect on my career, I am filled with a sense of contentment and gratitude for what I have achieved. This recognition is one of the greatest honours of my life.”
The award of the Andalusian Medal for the Economy and Business to Sando’s founder endorses the value creation that the company is achieving for society. Implementing strategic projects has driven the country’s economic and social growth and development over the last 50 years, as well as significant infrastructures and services. These actions have been developed under the highest standards of Sustainability and excellence, under Sando’s commitment to sustainable development and the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
