The conference will be held at the headquarters of the Andalucia Business Confederation in Seville
The second edition of the National Construction Health and Safety Conference will take place in Seville at the end of November. The conference will include a presentation of risk prevention experts, outlining the latest developments and modifications to national and community safety legislation.
The Sando Fundación is once again organising workplace risk prevention conferences, one year after the National Construction Health and Safety Conference. Workplace risk prevention and the integration of the handicapped are the principal areas of activity of the Sando Fundación.
The event, held at the Andalucia Business Association on the Isla de Cartuja in Seville, is structured into four thematic blocks. The first is a conference on risk prevention strategies to be pursued in Andalucia in the coming years. This will be followed by a double conference regarding the actions of public administrations in the area of workplace health and safety, comparing methodologies and results.
The third block will consist of a round table discussion of the latest risk prevention legislation, with special emphasis on the new university training scenario for risk prevention specialists within the European context and the enhanced quality of risk prevention actions (new certification criteria).
Finally, as in the previous year, the event will conclude with a Sando Fundación awards ceremony for Construction Health and Safety. A team of employees Sando and two collaborating companies will be recognised for their efforts in this area. The aim of these awards is to promote within Sando and its partners a culture of respect and awareness of workplace risk prevention.
The awards and closing ceremony will be presided over by the Councillor for Employment of the Government of Andalucia, Mr. Manuel Recio Menéndez, and Mr. Santiago Herrero León, President of the Andalucia Business Confederation.
Last year, the Sando Fundación made a concerted effort to expand on the workplace safety conferences being held by Sando for over a decade. The first national conference, held in Valencia in February 2009, saw the presentation of an internal study into risk prevention in the sector, the product of a year-long research project conducted by experts in the field of risk prevention.
The goal of the Foundation is to maintain an open forum on this issue, even in times of economic hardship, and offer public and private entities the opportunity to raise awareness, in both the private and public sectors, of the importance of workplace risk prevention.
The risk prevention policies of both the Foundation and the Sando Group have been recognised by a number of public institutions. Last year, the Sando Fundación received one of the most prestigious awards of the sector, the 2008 Prever Award, from the General Council on Industrial Relation and Work Sciences. This prestigious award, highly regarded in Spain and throughout Europe, highlighted the track record of the Foundation in the field of Workplace Risk Prevention since its creation.
The Foundation was previously awarded the 2001 SAFE Award in recognition of its efforts to promote the implementation of European and national health and safety standards.
