This area responds to the commitment made by Sando to society to protect and contribute to sustainable development. A social vocation which is reinforced by research and innovation projects carried out to offer a higher quality service.
Upkeep of green areas in Sando, principally by the company Althenia, is carried out in cities, botanical gardens, historical parks, leisure areas, beaches, public and private institutions and in unique buildings such as the tropical garden at Atocha Station.
One of the area’s R&D&I developments, the UAV-Grass project, combines Sando’s experience in the use of sensor-equipped drones with decades of experience in serving the environment to locate the appearance of pests and diseases at an early stage, optimise irrigation and fertilisation or establish a plan to adapt to new environmental conditions marked by climate change, among others.
