The construction of the new Levante high-speed railway access platform, specifically the Siete Aguas-Buñol AVE section, is 11.2 km long and is one of the most significant and complex works on the line. . Formed by two parallel pipes, it has connecting galleries between them every 400 metres.
The route consists of three tunnels (Siete Aguas, Buñol and La Cabrera) and two viaducts (over the Massegar Ravine and the Rambla del Gallo)
Within the Siete Aguas-Buñol AVE, the La Cabrera tunnel, the longest on the Madrid-Castilla La Mancha-Comunidad Valenciana-Región de Murcia line, stands out During the excavation of this tunnel, Sando Construcción beat the world record for tunnel boring machine progress on seven occasions.
The peak was achieved in August 2008, with 92.8 m drilled and 58 concrete rings placed in one day Of the 14,473 ml of tunnel with a cross-section of 53 m2, 231,167 m3 were excavated by conventional methods and 886,413 m3 by TBM.
