Contracting body: Sociedad de Infraestructuras y Equipamientos Penitenciarios y de la Seguridad del Estado (SIEPSE).
The new Police Station of the Eastern District of Cordoba is located on Justo Urrutia Street (Santuario neighborhood), a location that allows both easy and convenient access for citizens as well as quick and agile communication with the capital to provide services. The total floor area of the new building will be 15,532 square meters, distributed in three floors above ground and two basements, destined for parking and including a space for a workshop or shooting gallery.
The tender documents show that the complex will comprise three modules with as many interconnected vertical cores as possible. To guarantee the entry of natural light into all spaces, the building will have three large courtyards around which all spaces will be articulated.
The infrastructure will allow the replacement of the old National Police premises in Campo Amor, providing them with new, renovated and efficient facilities in terms of air conditioning and security.
Specialised law enforcement infrastructure
This project is in addition to Sando Construcción’s recent work on refurbishing buildings belonging to the State Security Forces and Corps. These projects include the comprehensive refurbishment of the police station in Madrid’s Central District.
With this project, Sando continues to specialise in the construction of office buildings, specifically police stations, adapting to the particular needs that this type of building requires to provide services to the public and carry out its professional activities.
As public state infrastructures, this type of building has high quality and environmental requirements. These requirements must be accredited through specific qualifications in sustainable construction certifications. In the case of the construction of the Cordoba police station, the sustainability of the project is accredited by obtaining the ‘3 leaves’ seal accredited by GBCe of the Green Building Council Spain.
