La Canda Tunnel

The La Canda tunnel is being built as part of the platform construction project for the North-Northwest High-Speed Corridor, specifically on the Madrid-Galicia High-Speed Line.

The project contemplates the construction of a 7,201.5-metre single-track tunnel, which represents 97.6% of the total length of the section on the right track; an intermediate attack gallery of 449.077 metres; eighteen connecting galleries between twin tunnels and four installation galleries; two false exit tunnels on the west side, and 302 metres of open-air platform.

The total excavation volume of the La Canda tunnel is 1,402,513.2 m³.
