La Gomera Social and Health Centre
Works for the La Gomera Social and Health Centre, Municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera.
The work on the La Gomera Social and Health Centre consists of constructing a complex comprising a centre for the elderly with a capacity of 150 residents and a day centre for 50 users with the option of overnight stays
Constructing the La Gomera Social and Health Centre involves creating spaces adapted to the needs of users, residents and professionals, such as: an infirmary, a physiotherapy room, mortuary, medical offices, a kitchen, a dining room and a laundry room. Each of these spaces uses top-quality materials and advanced systems that ensure the safety and hygiene of the facilities.
The Centro Sociosanitario de La Gomera building consists of five levels on an esplanade with a longitudinal difference in the level of 4 metres in the old hospital, respecting the existing volumes around it. For its construction, Sando carries out an open-cast excavation up to the bottom of the foundation at -1.35 m from the finished floor level, excavating the footings below by shafts. The foundations are reinforced concrete based on isolated footings, bracing beams specified in the plans, and continuous footings under retaining walls. The structure comprises reinforced concrete beams and column frames with flat waffle slabs and concrete-coffered ceilings.
