New LIDL logistics platform
Sando Construcción has completed constructing the largest logistics centre for the LIDL Spain supermarket chain in Andalusia and the second largest in the country. LIDL’s new logistics platform, built by Sando, is located on a 132,000 m2 plot of land within the Industrial, Technological and Innovation Area (CITAI) – the former Metropolitan Industrial and Technological Park of Granada – in Escúzar, which Sando also developed. A modern and efficient infrastructure with more than 65,000 m2 of floor space.
Theconstruction project for LIDL’s new logistics platform combines a prefabricated concrete structure with metal pillars. The roof is a flat deck type, with concrete enclosures and sandwich panels. It has 20,500 m3 of cold storage, 6,000 m2 special floor space for freezing 139 loading and unloading bays, and a 4,600 m2 office area. .
Sustainable LIDL logistics centre
Regarding sustainability, Sando Construcción has installed around 6,700 m2 of photovoltaic panels in this new logistics centre, capable of covering up to 30% of all the energy required by this logistics platform in a year. In addition, LIDL’s logistics centre is BREEAM certified, which promotes more sustainable construction and improves the functionality, flexibility and durability of buildings.
