Refurbishment of the El Olivillo Building
Execution works of the rehabilitation project of the “El Olivillo” building in the Cadiz Campus of the University of Cadiz
The refurbishment of the El Olivillo building consists of a ground floor, 4 upper floors and a semi-basement where the University’s Business Transfer Centre is located.
It is a building included in the Andalusian Historical Heritage Catalogue with a protection level of 3. It is considered an example of rationalist architecture as it dates from 1941 and was designed by the architect Antonio Sánchez Esteve. The work consisted of the complete demolition, leaving the façade in place, and archaeological remains of the Roman Testaccio of Cádiz were also found. Sando has used a BIM model to refurbish the El Olivillo building.
