Tertiary treatment at El Peñón del Cuervo WWTP
Works for tertiary treatment of the El Peñón del Cuervo WWTP and connection pipes for the Rincón de la Victoria WWTP in the municipalities of Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria
The tertiary treatment work at the El Peñón del Cuervo WWTP consists of constructing the hydraulic infrastructure connecting the new tertiary treatment plant at the El Peñón del Cuervo WWTP with the river Totalán.
The project includes constructing the new sewage pumping station (RWPS) next to the treatment plant and, from this section, the new pipeline. This pipeline has been built from the outlet of the WWTP located next to the Peñón del Cuervo Wastewater Treatment Plant to the crossing of the Arroyo Totalán to join up with the Rialsa pipeline.

Depending on the terrain’s topography, suction cups have been placed at different high points to remove air and drains at low points to remove water using gravity.
Due to the existence of subways, the polythene piping on the road has been changed to boiler work by installing flange holders and flanges at the ends of the polyethene piping.
A vital project for water management
The work on the El Peñón del Cuervo WWTP complements the project to connect the tertiary treatment of the Rincón de la Victoria WWTP with the irrigated land in Sector 8 of the Guaro Plan. These connections will increase the water resources available to farms. They will add 9.1 cubic hectometres of reclaimed water for irrigation in La Axarquía.
The Peñón del Cuervo WWTP works are included in the second Drought Decree as an action of interest to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia because it contributes to Malaga’s endemic water stress problem.
