The El Cañaveral urban development project, is the most extensive urban development plan executed until 2005 in Spain, with 540 hectares on which 103 roads are aligned, distributed on four different levels. The land development works involved 16,039,853 cubic metres of earth movement between cuttings and embankments, with installations covering 216 km in length between water supply and sewerage, including particular interventions such as using a tunnel boring machine exclusive to Sando.
