Conacon Sando has a business line specialising in constructing and maintaining electrical installations and renewable energy plants, such as industrial solar and cogeneration plants, and implementing energy efficiency solutions.
The company operates through four main lines of action focused on resilient projects: EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), renewable gases, self-consumption and energy efficiency, and the deployment of the plug-in electric vehicle (PEV)
The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) line covers renewable energy projects in photovoltaics, wind power, lithium battery hybridisation, Li, BESS, reversible hydroelectric power plants, reversible hydroelectric storage, pump as turbine (PAT), pressurised grid energy utilisation. In the course of more than 15 years of specialised energy services, Conacon Sando has carried out the construction of transformer stations up to 6,000 kVA, the construction and commissioning of substations up to 66/20 kV 30 MVA, and the installation of more than 100 km of H.V. up to 220 kV and more than 40 km of M.V. up to 30 kV.
The projects carried out in the area of renewable gases comprise the so-called power-to-gas projects and those that integrate the circular economy into the processes. These projects include pyrolysis, gasification and production techniques in green hydrogen (H2) electrolysers, transformation to green ammonia (NH3), and carbon dioxide (CO2) capture for the production of synthesis gas, methanol, biofuel, SAF, syngas, biochar and its use in fuel cells. Waste recovery processes are done through anaerobic digestion in ecoplants and biofactories for biogas production, upgrading to biomethane.
Through the self-consumption and energy efficiency line, Conacon Sando offers its customers solutions to improve sustainability, energy rehabilitation, SATE, heating electrification, greenhouse gas reduction, geothermal and aerothermal energy In recent years, solutions have included the construction and development of 0.5MW of fixed PV in La Rinconada (Seville) with grid feed-in (from greeenfield to ready to ready-to-build (RTB)and the construction in public-private partnerships (PPP) of photovoltaic self-consumption facilities with a total of 9.5 MW; and a 0.5 MW floating PV plant for an irrigation community.
Finally, the company has solutions that enable the deployment of plug-in electric vehicles (CEPV), such as installing electric chargers, which help reduce CO2 emissions and install chargers. Through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with electricity distributors and retailers, Conacon Sando has installed, operated and maintained more than 30 electric vehicle charging points that can be connected to a 100% renewable energy supply.
Conacon Sando also carries out R&D&i projects to design sustainable energy solutions. These projects include VICTORIA, which developed Spain’s first dynamic induction electric charging rail, and GENESI, which uses non-polluting electric-powered machinery to conserve urban environments.
Together with the University of Malaga and Sando Agua, it is investigating the EMBIO project to analyse the opportunities for producing renewable hydrogen from Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP) to convert these plants into biofactories that generate renewable energy for other sectors. This project contributes to both energy efficiency and the Circular Economy, as it would make it possible to use waste from other activities.
