Distribution

Water distribution is the process of delivering treated water to final consumers. During this phase, a series of actions must be carried out to ensure that water reaches users safely and in optimal conditions. The main stages of the water distribution process are:

1. StorageThe treated water is stored in large reservoirs, which allows the supply to be regulated and ensures a continuous supply in case of emergencies (head and tail).
2. TransportThe stored water is pumped through pipes to distribution points, sometimes over long distances and rugged terrain.
3. Distribution: Water is delivered to end-users through secondary and tertiary pipe networks extending to supply points.
4. Quality control: Throughout the distribution process, regular analyses and tests are carried out to verify the quality of the water and ensure that it meets the established standards of potability.
5. Maintenance and repair of infrastructure: Maintenance and repair work must be carried out on the distribution infrastructure to ensure its proper functioning and prolong its lifetime.

Uninterrupted, quality water service

Water distribution is a critical stage in the integrated water management cycle, as poor management or maintenance can lead to water contamination and put people’s health at risk of water loss, an increasingly severe issue given the scarcity resulting from climate change. For this reason, adequate investments in infrastructure and technology are required to ensure access to safe and quality water for all users.

In this phase of the integral water cycle, Sando Agua carries out activities in the upstream and downstream regulation reservoirs, in the supply network, in the high and low network, in irrigation systems, and in STP (pumping). In Sando’s five decades of experience, it has developed projects of this type throughout the country, such as the supply of the Portaje reservoir in Cáceres, the Alberche system in Toledo and the Juan Dios Molina WWTP in Cádiz, among others.
