The Sando construction group presents the temporary “Caminos de Hierro” (The iron ways) exhibition, which can be visited at Estació del Nord in Valencia from October 25th to November 12th. This is the sample of the 21st edition of the competition, which is held to choose the best pictures in the world of railways.
5 photographers from Valencia have participated and 2 of them have been given an award: Yvone Ramona, who received the Young Author’s prize, and Jean Fleche, who was awarded a second prize.
This is a temporary exhibition that can be seen in several Spanish capital cities. Sando works jointly, together with ADIF, with the Spanish Railway Association, who is organising the event in several of these cities. Aside from Valencia, the construction company has been present in the exhibitions offered in Madrid, Málaga, Córdoba and Zaragoza, and will also be present in Murcia (November 15th to 26th); Toledo (from November 29th to December 10th) and Madrid (from December 13th to January 7th).
The aim of the competition is to promote creativity in the railway field, focusing on all its features: travellers, stations, trains, tracks, etc.
The first prize was for the series “Corrientes” (Currents), whose author, Lourdes López, received 6,000 euros. The second prize
– 3,000 euros – was for Irina Bosch, for “Peinando colores” (Brushing colours).
The exhibition presents the works of 55 authors, with a collection of 54 individual photographs and 12 series, which approach the railway world from very different points of view. 2,206 were the pictures that entered the competition, taken by 1,065 authors from 24 countries.
